Loading a Log's Realtime Award Progress into Microsoft Excel

DXLab provides Realtime Award Tracking (RAT) service for seven award families:

RAT enables DXKeeper to immediately identify logged QSOs whose confirmation would advance your progress towards one or more of the above awards, and enables SpotCollector to immediately identify active DX stations with whom a confirmed QSO would advance your award progress.

The information required to provide RAT is stored in separate database tables within each log file:

For portable access or additional analysis, you can load the information from one or more of the above RAT tables into Microsoft Excel.

Because Excel can make changes, always begin by making a copy of the log file whose RAT table(s) to which you seek access. Failure to follow this guidance can result in a log file that DXKeeper cannot open!

To open a log's progress database table in Excel,

  1. select the File menu's Open command

  2. Excel's Open window will appear

    1. navigate to the folder containing the copy of the log file containing the progress database table you wish to access
    2. if the desired log file does not appear in the folder, configure the Open window to display All Data Sources

    3. double-click the entry for the desired log file
    4. if Excel displays a small "Microsoft Excel Security Notice" because it considers opening a database file to be a security concern, click the Enable button

    5. Excel will display a "Select Table" window with one entry for each database table present in the selected log file; double-click the entry for the RAT table you wish to open

In columns maintaining award status, the following award status abbreviations are used

The DXCC and WAZ RAT tables maintain a BANDMODES column for each DXCC entity and WAZ zone, respectively; the fields in these columns are lists of award status abbreviations for entity-band-modes and zone-band-modes, respectively.
