This release - doesn't populate an Override when arrow keys are used to navigate the Override tab's Entity selector (tnx to Iain N6ML) - doesn't attempt to perform a QRZ lookup if Pathfinder is not running (tnx to Salvatore I4FYV) - properly computes fractional spot lifetimes in non-US geographies (tnx to Nuno CT2IRY) - prevents unnecessary eQSL and LotW database lookups - when analyzing a callsign of the form A/B with B shorter than A and B having a length of more than 2 characters, considers A the dominant component if B does not contain a digit (tnx to Iain N6ML) - provides optional interoperation with Google Earth (tnx to Joe W4TV) - updates the Configuration, index.htm, and Operation.htm documentation files Notes: 1. Before installing and running Google Earth, make sure all critical data is backed up, and direct Windows to create a Restore Point: for a time running Google Earth on one of my PCs completely scrambled its display, requiring a PC restart to regain access. 2. Google Earth is free; the current version is 7.0.3.8542 and it's available via 3. Google Earth can be configured to operate in one of two graphics modes (DirectX or OpenGL) via the "3D View" tab of its Options window, accessible via its Tools|Options menu command. If Google Earth determines that your graphics adapter doesn't support the selected mode, it will prompt you to select the correct mode. 4. If Google Earth is installed on your PC, checking the Enable box in the new "Google Earth" panel on the "World Map" tab of DXView's Configuration window will cause DXView to display spots, award progress, or logged QSOs on Google Earth as well as on DXView's native world map (or on the DX Atlas world map, if you have that installed and enabled) 5. In the new "Google Earth" panel, 5a. changing the "Update interval" or clicking the Sync button occasionally causes Google Earth to noisily throw an exception, but it seems to automatically recover from this. 5b. checking the "Fly to Selected Location" box will cause Google Earth to position its viewpoint over the currently-selected location at the specified altitude; while this is convenient, it prevents you from manually moving Google Earth's viewpoint anywhere else. The alternative is to leave the "Fly to Selected Location" box unchecked, and manually choose a viewpoint in the Google Earth's "Side Bar", which you can make visible via its View|Sidebar menu command. 6. Google Earth is a large application that can consume a lot of CPU and and memory; I suggest initially monitoring its impact on your system by running the Windows Task Manager and selecting its Processes tab. In the new "Google Earth" panel, start with the Update sub-panel set to 10 seconds; if the CPU and memory loading is acceptable, set the Update sub-panel to 5 seconds and again monitor the impact. Setting the Update sub-panel to 1 second will optimize Google Earth's responsiveness to changes in the current location and to newly-arriving DX stations, but may increase its CPU and memory consumption beyond levels your PC can support. DXView 3.7.5 is available via the DXLab Launcher or via 73, Dave, AA6YQ
