Generating a WAS Submission

DXKeeper can automatically choose the minimal set of confirmed QSOs to submit to the ARRL in pursuit of your WAS award objectives. DXKeeper enables you to create and manage a submission comprised of QSOs confirmed by QSL card and QSOs confirmed by LoTW, and generate submission reports for specific WAS awards for which you can apply via your LotW WAS Award Account.

In preparation for generating a submission, verify that your award objectives are properly specified, and backup your log by clicking the Backup button in the Configuration window's Log tab.

Display the WAS Submission window by clicking the Submission button in the WAS panel on the Main window's Check Progress tab; in this window,

  1. If you're generating a submission containing QSOs confirmed by both QSL card and LotW, and your preference when there's a choice is to submit a QSO confirmed via QSL card,
    1. in the VUCC & WAS Submission panel on the Configuration window's Awards tab, select QSL card

    2. on DXKeeper's WAS Submission window, check the QSL Cards box and uncheck the LotW Confirmations box

    3. click the Assemble Submission button

    4. on DXKeeper's WAS Submission window, uncheck the QSL Cards box and check the LotW Confirmations box

    5. click the Assemble Submission button

  2. If your preference when there's a choice is to submit a QSO confirmed via LotW,
    1. in the VUCC & WAS Submission panel on the Configuration window's Awards tab, select LotW

    2. on DXKeeper's WAS Submission window, check the LotW Confirmations box and uncheck the QSL Cards box

    3. click the Assemble Submission button

    4. on DXKeeper's WAS Submission window, uncheck the LotW Confirmations box and check the QSL Cards box

    5. click the Assemble Submission button

  3. for each WAS award you're pursuing,
    1. choose that award in the Award selector above the Create Submission Report button (note: in the WAS award program, Mixed is referred to as Basic)

    2. click the Create Submission Report button

    3. review the generated Submission Report; if necessary, you can manually remove a QSO from the submission -- for example, a QSO with a station not yet approved for WAS -- by clearing its WAS vfy item. If you perform any manual modifications, return to the previous step before proceeding.

    4. if the generated Submission Report lists all 50 states, then login to your LotW Account, select the appropriate WAS Award Account, and create a WAS application specifying
      1. the QSOs listed in the Submission Report that are confirmed via LoTW
      2. the QSOs listed in the Submission Report that are confirmed via QSL card
    5. submit the WAS application
    6. submit the required QSL cards to an HF Award Manager, a DXCC Card Checker, or ARRL Headquarters.

  4. after the ARRL processes your WAS application(s),
    1. for any QSO rejected for WAS credit by the ARRL, set change its WAS vfy item from 'S' to 'I'

    2. in the WAS Submission window, click the Verify Submission button; this will change the WAS vfy item of each QSO that received WAS Award Credit from 'S' to 'V'
